Fabulous 50th celebrations

On Thursday at the school we all celebrated the 50th anniversary of Guildford West. The celebrations included a special assembly where among speeches and welcomes to all we were entertained by wonderful pieces from the schools recent concert. The concert pieces evoked memories of the moon landing with some astronauts a rocket and wonderful dancing to Frank Sinatras 'Fly me to the moon". the other pieces celebrated the 50's and Babe the movie. There were historical displays, a walk downn memory lane and special video booths where you could leave your memories for posterity. Gulldford League provided a wonderful sausage sizzle and our school comunity contributed to a wonderful morning tea.

I would certainly like to say something about Thursday Morning.
It was such a lovely day, sitting under the trees and watching the children from all across the grades bringing us their little piece of history. Thank you to them and their teachers for the effort made. GWPS has some lovely grounds, even with the extra buildings, there is still plenty of grass and space. My eye even caught the plum puddings flowering in the senior playground. That really took me back. The people that we met from days gone by and the current community members and staff, all seemed very happy to be involved in such a great day, because it is a great school. Thank you to all. See you in 10 years time.
